Terms of Service
Effective date: February 9, 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Sync.md ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
Description of the App
Sync.md is a paid, open-source iOS application that provides Git version control functionality on iPhone and iPad. The App is available for a one-time purchase of $5 on the App Store. The App uses libgit2 to perform Git operations and connects directly to GitHub for remote repository access. The App is developed and maintained by Cody Bontecou.
License
Sync.md is open-source software. The source code is available on GitHub and is subject to the license terms specified in the repository. Your use of the compiled App from the App Store is also subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA).
Your Account & Authentication
To use Sync.md's Git features, you must provide your own GitHub credentials via OAuth sign-in or a Personal Access Token. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your GitHub account and tokens
- All activity that occurs through your authenticated session in the App
- Ensuring you have the necessary permissions to access and modify any repositories you interact with
Sync.md stores your credentials securely in the iOS Keychain but is not responsible for unauthorized access to your device or accounts.
Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and in accordance with GitHub's Acceptable Use Policies. You agree not to:
- Use the App to access repositories without proper authorization
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App's security mechanisms
- Use the App to distribute malware or malicious content through Git repositories
- Violate any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights, through your use of the App
Your Content
Sync.md does not claim any ownership of your repositories, files, commits, or any other content. Your content remains yours. The App acts solely as a local Git client — all data flows directly between your device and GitHub.
Third-Party Services
The App integrates with GitHub for authentication and Git operations. Your use of GitHub is governed by GitHub's own Terms of Service. Sync.md is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by GitHub, Inc.
The App is distributed through Apple's App Store and is subject to Apple's terms and conditions.

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Warranties that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of any Git operations performed
You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of your data. Git operations — including but not limited to clone, pull, commit, and push — are performed at your own risk.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Cody Bontecou shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, including but not limited to:
- Loss or corruption of repository data

Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
